Another great performance today, and this time we took all 3 points.
We played some great passing football and deservedly took the lead when David scored one of his trade-mark goals; bursting through the Park Langley defence and then coolly slotting the ball home.
Although we had most of the play, at one- nil the game was still in the balance and we needed a second goal to settle any nerves. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise on our possession and went in at half-time one-nil up (when the lead could have been more).
The second-half started pretty much as the first – Danson dominating the game and keeping it tight at the back. Bill then tried to get in on the act by ducking out of the way before tripping over his own boots and ending up on his backside (She Fell Over!!!). Anyway, back to the game – more chances came and went before Tommy S took a long throw which David nodded in for his, and Danson’s second. This gave us the cushion we needed and as the Park Langley heads went down Luke latched on to a lose ball to make it 3-nil. Shortly after, Tommy B calmly slotted the ball past the keeper for his first of the season to make it 4-nil.
Not only did we win today we kept a clean sheet. All 4 defenders protected their goalie so well that Zac only had one real shot to save (from what I can remember), when he bravely saved at the opponents feet.
David was man-of-the-match today, but once again, it could have gone to anyone of the boys. Well done to everyone today. Keep the standard up, keep putting in the effort in training and we’ll soon be near the top of the league.
What a birthday present for the old man – a Danson victory!!!
Andrew.
